There’s no turning back when family values collide violently with otherworldly obligations.
The finale of The Vineyard dropped last month. Thank you to all the readers who stayed on board on this murderous joyrney!
2022 wasn’t a good year for me professionally (I assume everyone who follows comics news has read about AfterShock), and it was an extremely bad year if we look at the state of the world. However, I’m trying to focus on some positives in life:
The Vineyard #3 finally hit the shops at the end of January, and I hope it has found its way to readers’ hands!
Like Soda and Telepaths described in their review, there is a hidden darkness that seeps out of each panel like a cancer, infects your finger tips like a bad dose of LSD and runs up your veins like a virus and makes you shudder with each decision the protagonists make.
From Hell they came to mete out a justice as dark as their own tormented souls.
The Heathens trade paperback hit the shelves last month. I hope everyone who bought it has enjoyed it!
The best wine on Earth calls for sun, soil and sacrifice.
The first issue of our horrific tale of myth, murder and family values dropped this week, and I hope everyone enjoys it!
In addition to picking up our book, you might want to find out what Brian and I had to say about the series in this interview: Spilling The Wine: An Interview With The Creators Of ‘The Vineyard’
Last week, AfterShock Comics announced The Vineyard, a mythological horror series to debut in August. My partners in crime in this project are writer Brian Hawkins, colorist Jason Wordie and letterer Taylor Esposito.
The Vineyard is a family-owned winery that sows and reaps by the blessing of the great god of wine and revelry, Dionysus. However, the Vines family’s patron god requires complete devotion in the form of four sacrificial killings a year before each harvest. This has been done in unfettered obeisance. But all of that changed when the family’s patriarch, Didache Vines, was in a horrible accident that left him paralyzed and in a wheelchair.
Now, the sacrificial and murderous duties of the Vines family have fallen to wife and matriarch, Maranatha Vines. With harvest season fast approaching and the family short of their annual sacrificial killings, Maranatha’s struggle with her conscience puts all of her family – husband, son and daughter – in jeopardy.
A preview of the first issue is below. I hope you are ready for this year’s harvest season! :)
